Tanushree has been an organizer with AIM since 2017. She was born in Bangladesh and immigrated to England and then the U.S. She graduated from Cornell University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and was published in peer-reviewed science journals. Upon graduation, she joined the Peace Corps, and moved to Nicaragua where, in collaboration with the health ministry, she organized youth on a region-wide HIV prevention campaign. She received her master’s degree in International Affairs from the New School in New York City where she published on issues of economic development in Latin America. Through the Presidential Management Fellowship, she joined the US Agency for International Development and supported programs in Latin America and liaised with Congress, including top level work on the unaccompanied child migration crisis. At AIM she has had the great privilege to organize WITH many inspiring community leaders to win recognition for the survivors of the Flower Branch gas explosion and fire, for students and families in high poverty elementary schools fighting for better school buildings, and on tenants’ rights. She lives in Montgomery County.
