The Washington Post stated AIM is a "network of congregations that has become perhaps the most powerful grass-roots organization in the County."

Some of AIM's Recent Victories Include:

AFFORDABLE HOUSING: Won $204 million in funding for affordable housing, and a commitment by the County Executive to quadruple the county's yearly affordable housing funds from $20M to $80 million a year by 2010.

COMMUNITY CENTERS: Won $29 million in 2008 to renovate four community centers in Historic African-American neighborhoods. Beginning in 2010, centers in Good Hope, Plum Gar, Scotland and Sandy Spring will be renovated.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY: Won on pedestrian safety issues through out the county, including a half-mile sidewalk worth $306,000 that allows hundreds of families to safely access buses, work, shopping, doctors, school and church.

These accomplishments demonstrate AIM's effectiveness in organizing members of thirty religious congregations to hold the local government accountable to residents' top issues.
