AIM Candidate Forum

Our AIM Candidate Forum on Wednesday, April 22nd was an inspiring demonstration of People, Power, and Purpose! Congratulations!
Over 450 people engaged meaningfully in our democracy by interviewing and researching candidates on the issues that emerged from our listening sessions. Your participation contributes to our collective power.
Across language, race, and faith, we came to say we need action on well-being for immigrants, affordable housing, and healthy homes. We asked candidates for specific, measurable commitments on these issues because we want results. Not to mention, we showed ourselves as serious partners: if they are elected, they will want to work with us. Read our full People’s Agenda here.
Many thanks to our delegates and core teams who led turnout, especially South Lake/Safe Places, SEA Change, and Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring, who exceeded their turnout goals!
Thanks to everyone who interviewed candidates in breakout rooms, our speakers, and our floor team- your contributions made the night successful! A special thanks to Bishop Johnson and Harvest for allowing us to take over their space.
The candidates’ responses to our full questionnaire are on our website in English, Spanish, and French:

Next Steps:
We encourage you to find 3 people to talk to about what you heard in the candidate interviews. If you’re interested in connecting with members of other congregations, let us know and we’d be happy to facilitate. Discuss who you thought was compelling and why; listen to the other person’s perspectives .
Join us as we interview the district-specific County Council candidates in May on Zoom. Look up your district here.
District 1: Thurs, May 14, 12pm Register Here
District 4: Fri, May 15, 12 pm Register Here
Districts 3, 5, 6, 7: Date and time TBD; stay tuned for details
Please remind your friends and family to vote in the primary elections on June 23rd or what some of us like to think of as Fannie Lou Hamer Day. Early voting is June 11-18. Find more voter information here.
Thank you again for being part of our work to shape our communities and county for the better. We look forward to seeing you soon!
To support our work financially and help us get a head start on our goal of 100 donors for our 36 Hours of Giving on May 11, we invite you to make a donation to AIM, whether one-time or monthly. Thank you for your support!
