Victories for Children and Families
Congratulations! On May 22, the Montgomery County Council voted to pass several of our priorities in this year's budget, which will benefit children and families!
The final budget included:
Excel Beyond the Bell afterschool program for East Silver Spring and Waters Landing Elementary Schools
Linkages to Learning program, including a therapist and caseworker, at Burnt Mills Elementary School
$15 million in funding for early childhood education, including the beginning of a transition from half-day to full-day pre-K in public schools.
County agencies have also collaborated on a “Common Agenda,” which sets a goal of creating 15,000 new pre-K seats for 3- and 4-year-olds by 2030 and 3,000 seats for infants and toddlers.

Staff to implement the Consumer Protection for Renters Act.
These victories will help our children and families succeed, and they would not have happened without AIM's organizing. Congratulations to everyone who attended our "Forging Our Future" action last October, came to the County Council hearing in April, and sent emails to your councilmembers; your work made a difference!
