AIM’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

We’re thrilled to be celebrating AIM’s 25 years of impact, and we hope you will join us!

We invite you to our 25th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, December 6 at 7:00 pm at Sligo Seventh-Day Adventist Church (7700 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park). See the invitation here.

During the celebration, we will honor four special leaders in AIM's work: Judy Walser, Councilmember Gabe Albornoz, Dr. Stacy Ashton, and Sarah Insa Sadio.

Cocktail attire. Dessert and mocktails will be served. Please see below for sponsorships and tickets.

We look forward to celebrating with you!

Honorees

Judy Walser

Founding Leader
Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church

Played a key role in founding AIM in 2000 and was a top leader on several of our first campaigns, including improving transportation for the elderly and people with disabilities and renovating community centers in historic Black neighborhoods.

Dr. Stacy Ashton

Burnt Mills Elementary School Principal
AIM Board Member

Worked to win quality after-school programs, now in 18 schools, new school buildings for Burnt Mills and South Lake Elementary Schools, and uses relational organizing with staff and parents to help all students and families thrive.

Gabe Albornoz

Montgomery County Councilmember

An incredible partner who worked tirelessly to bring the Excel Beyond the Bell Elementary after-school program to thousands of low-income students and build innovative community centers in historic Black neighborhoods.

Sarah Insa Sadio

Youth Award Recipient

Has been a fearless youth leader with AIM since 2018, testifying at the local and state level and helping to win improvements to schools, recreation, and addressing climate change.

Keynote Speaker

Rep. Jamie Raskin

US Congress, Maryland District 8

Representative Jamie Raskin is known for his deep connection to the community and his long-term investment in on-the-ground organizing and developing leaders and organizers. He is also renowned for his sharp mind on constitutional law.

Rep. Raskin worked with AIM and our sister organizations on the Maryland DREAM Act and protecting mobile home owners across the state. He has been a Maryland’s District 8 member of the US House of Representatives since 2017, and he previously served as a Maryland State Senator from 2006 to 2017.

Congressman Raskin has invested much of his time and energy in the development of on-the-ground organizers to engage everyday people in our democracy. We are thrilled to have a keynote speaker who shares our value of engaging people across different backgrounds in our democracy.
